Lee Strobel, a former atheist, holds a Master of Studies in Law degree from Yale Law School, was an investigative newspaper reporter, and was the award-winning legal editor of the Chicago Tribune. Currently, he is a teaching pastor at Saddleback Valley Community Church in Lake Forest, Calif., and a board member of the Willow Creek Association.

An all-around religious skeptic born in 1952 (notions of God represent wishful thinking), his wife stunned him in the autumn of 1979 with the announcement that she had become a Christian. "I rolled my eyes and braced for the worst, feeling like the victim of a bait-and-switch scam. I had married one Leslie...the fun  Leslie, the carefree Leslie, the risk-taking Leslie...and now I feared she was going to turn into some sort of sexually repressed prude who would trade our upwardly mobile lifestyle for all-night prayer vigils and volunteer work in grimy soup kitchens."

At age 28 and after almost two years of intense investigation Jesus, he converted on 8 Nov. 1981. He published The Case For Christ in 1998 and The Case For Faith in 2000. I've read both and think that each of these less-than-300 pages books has excellent information for those who think they will not find intelligent evidence in favor of faith and Jesus.

 Rick Derringer's testimony

As written by Rick Derringer

I went to Catholic school through the eighth grade. They taught me many good things. They told me I could go to the confessional and ask for forgiveness. Most often the priest would tell me to say six "Our Fathers" and six "Hail Marys" for the repentance of my sins. But he didn't stress that I shouldn't sin in the first place, and he didn't encourage me to say thank you to the Lord!

In 1962, I began secular public high school and started a "garage band" called The McCoys. That's also the year I started thinking less about the Lord.

Willie Aames: the man behind the mask

By Kirk Noonan

At the beginning of Bibleman: Shattering the Prince of Pride, Miles Peterson — a man of status, money and influence — is standing in a slashing rainstorm with briefcase in hand. Lightning flashes and thunder rolls as he lets out a primal scream and falls facedown into a mud puddle. Writhing in agony, he notices a Bible partially covered in the mire.

"Then in his darkest hour the words of a single book began to change his life," says the narrator, as Peterson pulls a Bible from the earth. "And at last, Miles Peterson felt a burning desire to know God. Inspired by the Word of God and equipped with unyielding faith, Miles pledged to fight evil in the name of God as Bibleman."

Willie Aames, 40, who portrays Bibleman, had a similar conversion experience — minus the rain and mud. Aames, best known for his roles in the television programs Eight Is Enough, Charles in Charge and Swiss Family Robinson, had fame and fortune. But he, like Miles Peterson, did not have hope or peace until he met Jesus Christ.
